ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:
The congregation of St. Aidan's, Elmvale Acres was officially formed as a mission from St. Thomas the Apostle, Ottawa in May of 1958. Regular services began in August of the same year. St. Aidan's congregation met in the Vincent Massey School and in the chapel of a rectory purchased in 1959. The church hall was dedicated on December 5, 1960 by Bishop Ernest Samuel Reed. Bishop Reed laid the foundation stone for St. Aidan's Church on December 12, 1964 and dedicated the church on June 4th of the following year. The church was restored and the rectory sold by 1980. St. Aidan's, Ottawa was consecrated by Bishop Edwin Keith Lackey on June 4, 1989, the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the building. Since its inception, the parish has been known as St. Aidan's, Ottawa.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:
Fonds consists of records of the activities of St. Aidan's congregation in Ottawa, Ontario. It includes parish registers, 1959-1980, vestry records, 1978-1984, a service register, 1958-1976, records of committees and organizations, financial records, property records, special services and events material, correspondence, historiography, guest books, service bulletins, newsclippings, newsletters, and photographs.
