This exhibit was created to showcase collections housed at Trent University Archives pertaining to several women pioneers in Peterborough County. The settlers emigrated to Upper Canada between 1822 and 1883 with stays spanning 1 to more than 60 years. Their occupations ranged from author to naturalist to artist to homemaker. Their experiences with life in the bush are a testament to the tenacity and resourcefulness of the early female Canadian Settler.
